New Glenn Mission 1

Blue Origin's New Glenn Mission 1 was a significant milestone for the company. The New Glenn rocket successfully launched for the first time on January 16, 2025, at 2:03 a.m. EST from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The primary goal of the mission was to reach orbit, which was achieved about 12.5 minutes after liftoff.

The mission also aimed to land the reusable first stage of the rocket on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean, but this attempt was not successful. Despite this, the mission provided valuable data that will help improve future launches.

New Glenn is designed to carry large payloads to low Earth orbit (LEO) and is part of Blue Origin's efforts to establish a sustained human presence on the Moon and harness in-space resources. The rocket's first mission carried a test version of Blue Origin's upcoming "Blue Ring" spacecraft.

I live on the Space Coast of Florida and enjoy making photographs of things that, for whatever reason, interest me. You'll notice that a lot of my photography is "space" related (goes with the day job), but I photograph just about anything.
