Plane Pr0n?

STS-125 finally comes home - June 2, 2009.

It's fun to look into the sky on the Space Coast!

(1 of 2 in this series... shot in my backyard).

NIKON D200 1/400 second F/9.0 ISO 100 500 mm

I live on the Space Coast of Florida and enjoy making photographs of things that, for whatever reason, interest me. You'll notice that a lot of my photography is "space" related (goes with the day job), but I photograph just about anything.

If you would like to leave a comment please feel free to do so. All comments and critiques (good or bad) are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Hidalgo from Herunen, Finland

Very special photo!!! I love that STS-125 on the back that Jumbo jet of Nasa. The winglets of the aircraft Nasa are looking different than I have been seen normally. Thank You showing this photo.

@Hidalgo: As far as trips go, Atlantis certainly had an interesting journey this last flight. It was great that the pilot opted to fly along the coast for everybody to see the shuttle on her return trip home. Thanks for looking and leaving your thoughts! :-)

Eric from Bartlett, United States

very cool shot. I also read that it costs a few million to fly the shuttle back from Cali to Florida. Too bad the weather in FL did not cooperate

@Eric: Yeah, the cost of flying home this way is one of the reasons that NASA always tries to land in Florida. Sometimes Mother Nature doesn't quite see it from NASA's perspective though :-) Thanks for looking.

Terry from Regina, Canada

That is a great photo.

@Terry: Thank you. The plane flies so low when they do these passes that you don't get much warning they are coming. I lucked out and was looking the right way at the right time. Thanks for looking.

peter from new york, United States
