Didn't get to the zoo because of the weather, so have to visit with photos instead...

I live on the Space Coast of Florida and enjoy making photographs of things that, for whatever reason, interest me. You'll notice that a lot of my photography is "space" related (goes with the day job), but I photograph just about anything.

Hidalgo from Herunen, Finland

Wow, what colors. Really great shot.

@Hidalgo: Thanks. It's the color that draws me to the photo. If you were wondering, the yellow on his beak is food, they sell a cup of food that the birds love and they'll jump on your shoulders, hand or arm to get fed. This one had just finished feasting!

Helen from Melbourne, Australia

I thought you were in Australia for a while there. Nice photo! Rainbow Lorikeets aren't always easy to capture, as they are always on the move! These guys hang out in my garden. They are spectacularly coloured... noisy too, if you get about 20 of them fighting over the seed. If you are interested you can look here as I have posted a couple of shots over time.

@Helen: Thank you - I haven't made it to Australia yet :-)

I enjoyed your Lorikeet photos too, thanks for sharing.

Bill Jennings from (Bay Area Northern Calif), United States

I like how you used the mottled light, and caught this image with the light hitting the lorikeet just right. Well done.

@Bill Jennings: Thanks - they don't give you much time to set-up so good light is more luck than planning. I'll take luck any day though :-)

Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United States

What a terrific looking bird. The red around the neck looks like he's wearing a bandana. He could use one to clean off that beak. :o)

@Suzanne: Thank you - I agree, his table manners weren't the best :-)

Jennifer from United Kingdom

I love birds! This one is really colourful. I like the depth of field in this one -- it really brings the colours out. (Not that they needed bringing out though, I suppose!)
