This is one of those "good news / bad news" stories.
The maiden flight of the new ULA Vulcan rocket. The first stage is powered by a pair of Blue Origin BE-4 engines. This image is fun because you can see where the SRBs detach and only the BE-4 engines are left (the arc goes from white to blue from the meth-lox engines). The rocket performed as expected. Amazing for new everything on the booster stage.
The Peregrine Lander was expected to land on the moon on February 23, 2024. A fuel leak has made landing on the moon unlikely at this point. Astrobotic is still working through the issues and will salvage what they can from the mission.
Launched from SLC-41 at CCSFS on January 8, 2024 at 02:18 AM.
I live on the Space Coast of Florida and enjoy making photographs of things that, for whatever reason, interest me. You'll notice that a lot of my photography is "space" related (goes with the day job), but I photograph just about anything.
